Oakley Eyeglasses FAQ
Can I get prescription lenses in Oakley frames like the Flak 2.0 XL, Radar EV, or Radarlock?
Yes. The Flak 2.0 XL and Radarlock go to roughly -8.00/+4.00 depending on the lens curve; for the Radarlock's deeper wrap we use a back-surface digital design in Trivex. Most OO and OX models are prescription-ready; a few thin wire frames and the most extreme wraps have limits, listed on the product page.
Does Oakley offer prescription lenses in Prizm technology?
Yes. We order Oakley Authentic prescription lenses with Prizm tints (Road, Trail, Golf, Deep Water, Daily and the rest), surfaced by Oakley with the logo etching and warranty. If your prescription is outside Oakley's range, we cut a Prizm-equivalent tint in our own lab.
What's the difference between Oakley Prizm and standard polarized lenses?
Polarized cuts glare off flat surfaces, water, snow, road, and does nothing else. Prizm is a contrast filter tuned for one environment, so Prizm Trail lifts the browns and greens of a path, Prizm Road the tarmac. Prizm Polarized does both and is the lens we'd pick for most outdoor sport; plain polarized is still the choice for boating.
Can I get Prizm Polarized in prescription?
In some colours: Deep Water Polarized and Road Polarized among them. It depends on the frame and base lens, so we confirm when you pick the frame.
What is the maximum base curve Oakley supports in prescription?
8.75 base, the Radar EV and Jawbreaker curve, using Oakley's XYZ Optics surfacing. Prescriptions past ±4.00 may be limited to a 4 or 6 base to keep the optics honest. We optimise thickness and alignment for the frame and prescription you've chosen.
Can I get a prescription in Oakley shield-style frames (Radar EV, Sutro)?
Yes. Oakley makes the one-piece shield as a prescription lens, semi-finished and then surfaced, which takes a little longer: usually 14 to 18 business days.
Can I get progressive lenses in wrapped Oakley frames?
It can be done with free-form surfacing, but a deep wrap squeezes the reading corridor and blurs the edges. For sport we usually suggest single-vision distance lenses, or a flatter Oakley for progressives. Send us your prescription and we'll say which model works.
Can I get single-vision Oakley Authentic lenses for high astigmatism?
Oakley's own lenses handle cylinder to about ±2.00. Above that we grind the lenses ourselves. Either way we need an accurate PD and frame measurements, and we check the wrap won't distort the edges before cutting.
