Can I buy just lenses from you?
Yes. Send us the frame, or bring it in, and we cut new prescription lenses for it. We quote once we've seen the frame and your prescription; price depends on the lens type and coatings.
Can you tint any clear prescription lens to a sunglass color?
Almost any plastic lens, CR-39, polycarbonate, Trivex or high-index, in almost any colour and depth. Two exceptions: photochromic lenses, which already change colour, and some 1.74 high-index that takes tint slowly. Glass we can't tint here; it comes tinted from the factory.
Are your lenses coated with anti-reflective (AR) coating by default?
Standard house lenses include a basic hard coat against scratches; top-end anti-reflective is an upgrade. We strongly recommend AR to reduce glare from screens, headlights, and overhead lighting, especially for night driving and computer use. Higher-end AR often bundles hydrophobic and oleophobic layers.
What is the advantage of a back-surface anti-reflective coating?
On sunglasses, the reflection you notice is the one off the inside of the lens: sunlight from behind you bouncing into your eye. Back-surface AR kills that, and the reflection of your own eye, for less money than coating both sides. Both-sides AR only matters on clear lenses worn at night.
