Do Gunnar prescription lenses come in amber or clear?

Both. The amber lens blocks the most blue light and is the default on the Computer line. The clear BlockBlue lens filters about a quarter of it and looks like an ordinary lens, which designers and editors who need true colour prefer. Either can be made to your prescription.

What is Gunnar and is it just for gaming?

Gunnar makes glasses for screens. Gamers made it famous, but programmers, writers and anyone with an eight-hour monitor day buy the same frames. The lens filters blue light and adds a little magnification so the eye's focusing muscles relax at screen distance.

Do Gunnar glasses really reduce eye strain?

For most of the people who tell us about it, yes: less end-of-day fatigue, and worn in the evening, easier sleep. It's the combination of the filter, a +0.20 magnification and a lens shape built for close work. They're as useful at a desk as at a console.

Can I get my exact prescription in Gunnar, including progressive?

Yes. Your single-vision or progressive prescription replaces the stock +0.20 magnification, with anti-reflective and blue-light options. On progressives Gunnar's own near add (+0.25 to +0.50) stacks with yours, so our opticians work out the total near power to avoid overcorrecting.

What's the difference between Gunnar and generic blue-light glasses?

Generic blue-light glasses are a clear lens with a light filter. Gunnar adds the amber tint, which blocks far more, a little magnification, and a frame shaped for looking at a screen. If you want more than a token filter, that's the difference.

How long does the blue-light filter last?

The better blue-cut coatings are in a hardened layer and typically last the life of the lens (2–3 years) with normal use; abrasive cleaning or harsh chemicals can compromise them sooner. We warranty against peeling/delamination for 1 year.

Can I get Gunnar in a wrap-around frame for gaming?

The wrap models (Phenom, Vayper) take single vision up to about -4.00/+2.00 on their 6-base curve. Stronger than that, the wrap distorts; pick a flatter Gunnar like the Vertex or the SteelSeries frames.
