Are your safety glasses ANSI Z87.1 certified?
Yes — every pair meets or exceeds ANSI Z87.1 standards for impact resistance. Look for the "Z87" marking stamped on the lens or temple as confirmation.
Can I get safety glasses made with my actual prescription?
Yes. Prescription safety glasses go through the same process as our other Rx eyewear — choose your frame, enter or upload your prescription, and our lab builds the lenses to your exact correction while keeping the Z87+-rated lens material and coatings intact.
What's the difference between Z87 and Z87+?
Z87 covers basic impact resistance; Z87+ means the frame and lens have passed high-velocity/high-mass impact testing. All of our safety eyewear is made at a Z87+-rated lab, so you're getting the higher standard across the board.
Will these meet my employer's or OSHA's eye protection requirement?
Our safety glasses are built to ANSI Z87+, the standard most U.S. employers and OSHA-regulated workplaces require. If your job has a specific policy (side shields, specific tint, etc.), check with your safety officer — we're happy to help you find a frame that fits those requirements.
Do you offer safety glasses with side shields?
Our Wiley X safety eyeglasses styles come with integrated side shields. Our wrapped frame styles don't need separate side shields — the wraparound design already covers the sides of your eyes.
How long does prescription safety eyewear take?
About 2 weeks in general, since they go through the same lab process as our other Rx lenses. We verify prescription accuracy before anything ships.
Can I wear safety glasses over my regular prescription glasses (OTG)?
We don't currently carry OTG safety glasses. If you need eye protection to wear over your existing prescription glasses, check out our OTG goggles instead.
Do safety glasses come in polarized or tinted lenses?
Yes — polarized and tinted lens options are available on our safety glasses, on top of the standard clear Z87+ lens.
How do I know the frame is Z87+, not just the lens?
The frame has Z87+ moulded into the temple or bridge; the lens has it etched in a corner. Plenty of glasses pair a rated lens with an unrated frame, which is worthless in an impact, so look at the frame. Ours come with both rated and a certificate of compliance.
Can I get prescription lenses in safety glasses?
Yes, single vision, bifocal or progressive, cut in polycarbonate or Trivex to the Z87+ standard, so the finished pair is rated. A few dress-style safety frames are Z87 without the plus; the product page says.
Do you do prescription welding goggles?
No. Welding shades can't be made as prescription lenses. Wear a prescription insert under the welding helmet, or contacts with a passive shield. For grinding and chipping we can supply clear prescription safety glasses.
