Are all Wiley X frames ANSI Z87+ safety rated?

Nearly all of them, frame and lens, across Active Lifestyle, Tactical and Valor. The hinges and temples are reinforced so the frame holds together even if a lens is knocked out. The Z87+ mark is on the frame or lens.

Active Lifestyle, Climate Control or MIL Specs?

Active Lifestyle (Arrow, Grid, Peak) is the Z87+ everyday and work line. Climate Control adds a removable foam gasket that seals out wind and dust and vents to stop fogging; motorcyclists and shooters buy it. MIL Specs (Spear, Nerve, Valor) also pass the military ballistic tests, MIL-PRF-31013 and 32432, for combat and police use.

Can I get prescription lenses directly in Wiley X frames with side shields?

Yes, polycarbonate or Trivex straight into the frame at the same Z87+ standard, side shields or not. The shields slide onto the temples and stay clear of the lens; keep them on if you need OSHA compliance at work.

Do Wiley X prescription inserts meet MIL-PRF-32432?

The insert is polycarbonate to the high-impact standard; the full ballistic rating belongs to the assembled system, frame plus outer shield plus insert, on frames like the XL-1, SG-1 and Valor. Check the certification label on the specific model.

Can I use my own prescription insert in a Wiley X frame?

No. Each insert is cut to one model's curve, bridge height and tilt. We order the insert to match the frame you buy; they don't move between models.

Can I get progressive lenses in a Wiley X WX Valor or XL-1?

With difficulty. A deep ballistic wrap with a two-lens insert is the hardest place to put a progressive, and for most tactical frames we recommend single vision. The Valor can take a low-add progressive (to +2.00) in a short-corridor digital design if the PD and insert are set carefully.

Do Wiley X MIL Spec frames come with side shields in prescription?

Yes. The SG-1 and PT-1 come with removable side shields; the prescription insert sits behind the shield lenses, which stay plain Z87+ clear or tinted. Fit the shields properly or you lose the side protection.

What's the warranty on Wiley X frames and lenses?

Lifetime on the frame against manufacturing defects, among the best there is, and one year on lenses against coating failure and stress cracks, not scratches or impacts. Modifying the frame or lens voids the ballistic rating. We handle claims through Wiley X's US service centre.
