Although the Central Coast of California is not a distinguished area where professional surfers come out of, the perplexed landscapes have been known to create comparable mysterious wonders. Spy Optics surf team rider, Nate Tyler, is living proof of that speculation. Hailing from Morro Rock, California, Nate has a unique style that combines the elements of modern surfing with technical front side punts and hand carves. His style and tricks are documented in major parts in surfing movies such as Volcom's "BS!" and Globe's "Year Zero" as well as "Innersection".

Nate is more of a nature man at heart and tends to avoid the mayhem that is brought on to the typical California pro surfer, by not living in places like Los Angeles or San Francisco. He opts to live off the grid in the home he grew up in, hand-built by his father that he purchased a few years back. Although Nate loves his secluded life, he is always one hop-skip away from jetting onto a plane to native areas around the world, helping chronicle the spirit and sport of surfing through photos and film. Recording trips around Central and South America to Australia, New Zealand, the Indonesia Archipelago, and countries in the middle east such as Dubai, Oman and Yemen, Nate has a perspective on the world that many of us cannot begin to imagine. His cultural understanding have translated into a spirit that is everlasting, authentic and inspiring, which is one of many reasons why he is so loved and respected in the surfing community.
