It cannot be denied that the Aviator sunglasses is one of the most well-known eyewear in the world. Since it was first made in 1936 by Bausch & Lomb, it has spawned hundreds of other similarly designed eyewear. History Of The Aviator Sunglasses

The Aviator sunglasses were originally developed in 1936 by Bausch & Lomb, now popularly known as Ray-Ban. It was manufacturer mainly for US Military Airforce pilots to protect their eyes in prescription sunglasses from the sun while flying. The Aviator became famous when General Douglas MacArthur landed on a beach in the Philippines during World War II. He was wearing the Aviators when newspaper photographers are able to snap his pictures which made headlines worldwide.The Aviator sunglasses became even more popular in the 1960's when the favored trend was metal rims over plastic. This eyewear became a cultural icon as many pop and rock musicians used them for their albums, promotions, and concerts.
